Update—November 16th to 29th
On Saturday evening the 16th I attended a Diwali celebration. On Sunday I attended the service at Pilgrim Baptist Church, celebrating Pastor Rector’s 15 years at Pilgrim. On Monday morning I had a meeting at the Delaware School for the Deaf in the morning, met with a member of a team of UD student entrepreneurs to discuss opportunities for their team to expand their company’s impact, and that afternoon I met with a Christina School District leader. I spent Tuesday morning at Shue-Medill Middle School. On Wednesday the 20th I met with the executive director of the Newark Housing Authority, and that evening I attended a Democratic Presidential Candidate debate watch party at the Greene Turtle. On Thursday morning Senator Sokola and I chaired the local service fee task force. On Saturday the 23rd I participated in the 47th annual Newark Turkey Trot.
On Sunday the 24th I attended a performance of the Imagination Players at the Head of Christina Presbyterian Church. I had three phone calls on Monday regarding Christiana School District. On Tuesday morning I met with Rep Osienski and Mayor Clifton to discuss affordable housing and homelessness in the greater Newark area. My wife Pam and I visited Faithful Friends dog/cat shelter on Tuesday, to discuss their past, present, and future. That evening I attended the Newark Interfaith Thanksgiving Service at the United Church for Christ (UCC). On Thanksgiving Pam and I volunteered at the 47th annual Newark Thanksgiving Breakfast. On Friday Pam and I volunteered at the Day after Thanksgiving Dinner at UCC.
Emails—I had many emails related to past, present, and future legislation. There were emails regarding regulation tied to pain medication injections, about HB140 the End of Life Options Act, about a microbrewery bill, about peer-to-peer car sharing legislation, interstate compact to end corporate giveaways, net neutrality, PILOT funding, and tied to school board member qualifications and oversight.
There were emails regarding affordable housing, both in Newark and Wilmington.
We have had emails with DelDOT, regarding a missing street sign, desired speed bumps, road striping on Delaware Avenue, DMV data security, Main Street construction, and the (lack of) pavement striping on Chambers Rock Road.
There were emails with/about DNREC, regarding the White Clay Creek State Park master plan/trail plan, about deer population and the danger it brings, about street lights on Creek Road as it connects to the city, about the property at 0 Paper Mill Road, and offshore wind power.
