On Saturday the 5^th I was pretty busy, with the Mayor’s Harvest Fest, GrainFest, door knocking in West Branch, a fundraiser for Rep John Kowalko, and another one for Rep Kim Williams. On Sunday I door knocked in Fairfield, and presented the annual PANDAS/PANS Awareness Day proclamation to the Duzan family. On Tuesday the 9^th I joined several colleagues to sponsor Naloxone training at the Newark Senior Center for families with friends suffering from heroin addiction. On Wednesday the 10^th I joined familes participating in the International Walk to School Day for Downes Elementary. That afternoon I led the HR24 manufactured housing task force in Dover. Afterwards, I drove to Washington DC to the Taiwanese consulate to celebrate their national Double Tenth Event. On Friday the 12^th I attended an award ceremony for Rep Earl Jaques at the Air National Guard station. On Saturday the 13^th I attended the UD football game against Elon. That evening I attended a fundraiser for Don Allen.

On Sunday the 14^th, after door knocking in Abbottsford with two students from Newark Charter School, I attended the NAACP—Newark Chapter Freedom Fund Awards Banquet. On that Monday I joined a meeting with the Governor on the RFK Funeral Train, which travelled through Newark fifty years ago. Later that day I had a phone call with the Brady Center on a gun violence prevention legal question, and that evening I attended a community meeting on the development proposal for UD’s old Dickinson dorms. On Friday the 19^th I attended a Diwali Resolution Thank You event. On Saturday the 20^th I door knocked in Oaklands/Nottingham, and afterwards I attended (and emceed) the annual fundraiser for the Newark Arts Alliance.

On Sunday the 21^st I had a meeting regarding a presentation next year about the RFK Funeral Train. On Monday the 22^nd I participated in a civic engagement program on UD’s campus partially sponsored by the Biden Institute, and that evening I attended a portion of the Newark City Council meeting. On Tuesday the 23^rd I participated in a Habitat for Humanity project in Wilmington. That afternoon I attended a Biden Institute event on race and gender in politics. That evening I attended the quarterly meeting of the White Clay Creek State Park advisory council. On Wednesday the 24^th I attended the event at Delcastle Technical High School in which they, partnered with Radio Newark, posed live questions of the astronauts on the International Space Station.

Emails

I had many emails during the past few weeks. Many had to do with roads (train track crossings of roads, highway signs for Newark-area museums, the traffic flow on Cleveland Avenue, road improvements to the Estates at Corner Ketch, on-city-street parking needs for a resident who is disabled and has home-health aides, and on speed enforcement requests of residents).

There were many other emails on a variety of subjects: voting legislation and machines, facility-based employment for those with disabilities, about concerns and opportunities with Christina School District, about manufactured housing, about the recent international report on global climate change, on correcting a false statement made by UD’s Alan Brangman regarding the UD bus service, on a historic property along Capitol Trail, on the process of passing a city charter change that would enable Covered Bridge to utilize the city sewer infrastructure, on a drainage concern in West Meadow and another in Covered Bridge, on the unavailability of EpiPens at area pharmacies, on requesting that the son of a district resident to be transferred from Georgia to Delaware while under probation, on college tuition for children of long-time Delaware residents who have green cards, on a resident’s Delmarva Power billing question, on proposed legislation on the Share the Care Act, on End of Life Options Act, Marijuana Control Act, plastic bag/straw limitation bills, and one on charter schools which fail mid-year.
