On Sunday the 23rd I attended the Newark Symphony Friends wine & cheese. On the 24th I attended a campaign fundraiser and afterwards attended a Newark city council to hear a presentation on the new Newark Downtown Partnership.by the UD. Wednesday the 26th was very busy. I stopped by the Newark Senior Center for its Housing Fair, I then went to the Delaware Food Bank for a reception, I then went to the UD library to join in the banned book read-a-thon, then went to Dover to chair the Manufactured Housing Task Force, and that evening went to Newark City Hall for a presentation and discussion of the UD’s economic impact on the city and region. On Thursday I attended the Medicaid Buy-in Study Task Force, which I co-chair. On Friday I drove district community streets to find those most in need of repaving. On Saturday the 29th I attended a Gun Sense Rally, did door knocking, attended Owners Day at Delaware Park, and ended the day at the Kranz Hill Farm for their annual festival.

That evening I went to the Route 9 library for the New Castle County public meeting on the Department of Education’s expanded financial reporting for our schools. On Thursday the 4th I joined the celebration of the unveiling of the Elwood Roy Avenue. That afternoon I attended a press event to announce an expanded New Castle County bike plan, Connecting Communities. On Friday I joined in another conference call with Compassion and Choices.

Emails—I had emails about the new voting machines, about a proposed Share the Care Act, requesting a contact at a Dover employer for a resident whose child seeks employment there, about whether we can legislatively limit candidates who run for federal office for Delaware to be Delaware citizens/residents (we cannot), criminal record expungement, reporting a concern with a Delaware assisted living facility, about Newark’s plans to consider higher-density zoning for some areas close to the UD campus, about two drainage concerns in Covered Bridge, about CTF funding for streets and other projects, about a Delmarva Power billing question for a constituent, about changing the law to require some ‘bonding’ for charter schools which are most at risk of suddenly closing, about Newark Police Department school resource officer training and credentials, about a problem property in Chapel Hill, requiring Delaware corporations of a certain size to have at least one female on their board, about an unclaimed property claim of an area non-profit, about limiting plastic straws, about ongoing experiences on the modified East Cleveland Avenue, about the timing of the opening of Newark’s medical marijuana dispensary, about a PANDAS/PANS Awareness Day proclamation, about voter services at the DMV, and about the Convention of the States initiative.
