2018 Update—August 13th to 24th

On Tuesday the 14th I met with a resident of Covered Bridge with Senator Sokola Councilwoman Kilpatrick and others to review a flooding/erosion problem. That evening I attended the annual Italian American Leadership event. On Thursday in the morning I attended a working group meeting in Dover exploring the Voluntary School Assessment program. On Friday I had a tour of a vape shop in Peoples Plaza. That evening I attended a community event at Dickey Park, near Madison Drive, sponsored by the Newark Police Department. On Saturday I attended the fifth annual Brae’s Brown Bags event celebrating community volunteers.

On Monday the 20th I attended the master plan open house for the White Clay Creek State Park. On Tuesday I led the task force meeting in Dover exploring manufactured housing code improvements. That evening I attended the trail dedication ceremony for Newark’s Jerry Fickes Memorial Trail in Rittenhouse Park. On Wednesday morning I met with mayor Sierer. On Friday I met with a legislative leader.

Emails—I had emails about the three task forces/working groups I am serving on this fall.

I had emails about legislation which did not pass this year, including the direct wine shipment bill, the End of Life Options Act, the Share the Care Act, and a Green Amendment.

I had emails about the selection of new voting system for Delaware.

I had emails with Delmarva Power regarding the reliability of power lines serving West Meadow and Chapel Hill.

I had emails with the city about issues including flooding, one property owner’s tree falling on another’s home, about a parking meter matter, and the parkland off Old Paper Mill Road.

I had emails with DelDOT, about trimming foliage blocking signs, about signal light timing, about providing the DMV van for Newark Community Day, about better signage and lane striping in a community, CTF projects, about the 2019 closure of Paper Mill Road for a culvert replacement, limiting parking on one side of Thorne Lane, at the request of the city and county, and about the Main Street project.

I had emails with the county about speed enforcement on Nottingham Road.

I had emails about athletic trainers in our high schools.
