2017 Update—February 6th to 20th

On Monday the 6th I met with representatives from DelCOG and Common Cause to discuss FOIA issues. That evening I attended a meeting of the 23rd Rep District Democratic Committee. I have been on vacation for most of these past two weeks.

Emails

I have had many emails related to a concern that several of my colleagues have regarding whether the University of Delaware administration is appropriately abiding by Delaware’s Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). These emails culminated with a second letter to the Attorney General’s office asking for clarification from them, regarding several actions which concern us.

I have responded to several emails from residents, related to upcoming legislative matters including the legalization/regulation/taxation of marijuana, Medicaid reimbursements, limits on interest rates on short-term loans, the upcoming budget decisions the Governor and the legislature face, manufactured housing, earned income tax credit reform, and the direct shipment of wine bill.

I have had emails related to various traffic concerns, meetings with residents and organizations, with the installation of the antenna for Radio Newark, the hostage crisis and ongoing concerns at Smyrna prison, drainage on Mason Drive, the Tri-Valley Trail project in White Clay Creek State Park, and an eagle scout ceremony.

I have led efforts with my Newark-area state legislators to raise money to purchase an ATV for the Aetna fire company, to be used for emergencies in remote locations (such as parks, large crowd events, etc)
